How to Use Celebration Analytics

Track birthday and work-anniversary activity with celebration counts, recipient reach, points distributed, and a filterable celebration timeline.

Who can use this feature

Available on the Team plan and above. Requires the Super Admin admin permission.

Who this is for

Global admins who want to understand how celebration bots are performing β€” how many milestones fired, how many people were celebrated, and how many points were distributed.

What you'll achieve

A clear view of celebration activity over any date range, plus the ability to browse, filter, and export individual birthday and work-anniversary posts.

Before you begin

  • You have the Global Admin permission

  • Your workspace is on the Team plan or above

  • Celebration bots are configured under Programs β†’ Celebrations

Celebration Analytics focuses on automated birthday and work-anniversary posts. For peer recognition activity, see Recognition Analytics. For all point movements across the workspace, see Spend Analytics.

Steps

Open Celebration Analytics

Go to Programs β†’ Celebrations in the admin sidebar, then select the Analytics tab. The page loads with the current calendar month selected.

Choose a date range

Use the date picker to adjust the reporting period. Presets include Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This month, and Last month, or pick a custom range with the calendar. The date range applies to both the summary cards and the celebration table below.

Read the summary cards

Three KPI cards appear at the top:

Card

What it shows

Celebrations

Total number of birthday and work-anniversary posts during the selected period

Unique Recipients

Distinct people who received at least one celebration

Points Distributed

Total points credited through celebration bots in the period

The KPI cards reflect the full date range only. Person and team filters below affect the celebration table, not these headline metrics.

Browse the celebration table

Below the summary cards, a table lists individual celebration posts within your date range. Each row shows:

  • Message β€” the celebration text

  • Post type β€” Birthday or Work Anniversary

  • Recipients β€” who was celebrated

  • Points β€” how many points were awarded

  • Comments β€” number of comments on the post

  • Date β€” when the celebration was delivered

You can sort by Date or Points, search messages, and paginate through results.

Filter the table

Three filters sit above the table:

  • Date β€” the reporting window (shared with the KPI cards)

  • Person β€” search for celebrations involving a specific user

  • Team β€” narrow to celebrations for members of a particular team

Export celebration data

Click Export above the table to download a CSV of the filtered celebration posts. The export respects your active filters (date range, person, team, and search) and is delivered to your email.

What to expect after

This page is read-only β€” nothing here changes celebration bot settings, user dates, or point balances. You're viewing a historical record of automated milestone activity.

If celebration counts look low, check that user birthday and hire date fields are populated. Celebrations only fire when those dates match the calendar day. See the related article on how celebration bots work for delivery rules and edge cases.

Common mistakes

I filtered by a person but the KPI cards didn't change

That's by design. The three KPI cards reflect the entire workspace for the selected date range. Person and team filters only affect the celebration table below the cards.

Points Distributed doesn't match Spend Analytics

These measure different things. Celebration Analytics sums points attached to celebration posts in the period. Spend Analytics shows total points issued from the ledger across all sources (recognition, celebrations, incentives, manual adjustments, and more). The numbers will naturally differ.

No celebrations appear even though bots are enabled

Celebration bots only create posts when an active user's birthday or hire date matches today's date. If dates are missing or were added after the milestone passed for the year, the bot waits until the next occurrence. Confirm dates on the Users page or through CSV import.

Pro tips

  • Review after onboarding. After a bulk user import, spot-check that birthdays and hire dates are populated before expecting celebrations in Analytics.

  • Pair with Recognition Analytics. Recognition Analytics shows peer-to-peer activity; Celebration Analytics shows automated milestones. Together they explain most non-incentive point issuance.

  • Use team filters for department reviews. Filtering by team helps HR or people partners see milestone activity scoped to their part of the organisation.
